100% silk outer shell and lining. Made from a patchwork blend of vintage Japanese kimonos and obis from the 1960’s - 1980’s, also known as the Late Shōwa Era.
These kimonos were found at thrift stores and estate sales in Japan. We deconstruct every kimono by hand and use the all of the given fabric to create new pieces. Due to sourcing our fabric from vintage garments these pieces have unique signs of age such as oxidization, sun fading, or distressing that we may choose to feature or cover with patch work.
Kimonos were designed to fit a variety of body types. Our pieces draw inspiration from that one of our sizes might encompass multiple “standard” sizes due to the adjustable fit of our garments.
